We are well known here at Dandycars.com for the high quality and consistency of paintwork we perform on the Mazda MX5. This is a very commonly requested service, so we thought we'd put it on the website.

The whole respray process currently takes over a full week, so please ensure you can be without your car for 2 weeks, just to be on the safe side. This service MUST be booked in advance. The following procedure was explained to us by our bodyshop, please call if you would like any clarification on any of the work we do.

First the MX5 is cleaned up to inspect first. All door handles, mirrors lights and also the roof and rear trim is removed. Small repairs and blemishes, stone chips, dings, scratches and solvent marks are then repaired, this takes 1-3 days (depending on the size of any repairs needed).

The car is then primered which takes approximately 1day.

After it's been primered the car is then re-examined for blemishes that may have come to light in the primer and prepared for painting, this takes another day.

Painting the car takes 1 day and it is then baked in an oven for around 45 minutes.

The car is then refitted with all the door handles etc that were removed, reexamined and given a final polish. This final process takes around 1.5 days.

Extra time and cost is needed if the car is a metallic colour (typically an extra £100) or being colour-changed, even more so if the engine bay is to be painted (requires removal of engine) and takes typically 2-3 days extra.
